Role Overview

Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets.  Headquartered in the United Kingdom, we have an extensive international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing almost 400 people across ten countries.
 
In our multinational and highly motivated HR team of 7 people we add value to Sperry Marine by providing objective advice to managers and employees on people-related matters.
 
As our part-time (up to 32 hours) HR Business Partner for the Netherlands and Belgium you will contribute to this through a combination of day-to-day employee support, project work and long-term strategic planning. For your area of responsibility you will source talent and develop the culture and processes to ensure that work is effective and productive through a positive employee experience and retention of our talent.
 
Within the HR function you will operate within a multinational organisation undergoing change and growth with responsibility for the following activities:
 
  • Develop, implement and administer employment policies and procedures in line with corporate policy and legislative changes for the Netherlands and Belgium offices
  • Direct recruitment of talent for the above mentioned offices
  • Manage employee relation cases including performance management capability, restructure, grievance and discipline
  • Act as a key point of the contact for the employees and leaders in the business unit
  • Proactively support the delivery of business / HR processes and actively identify gaps, propose and implement changes necessary to cover risks and ensure positive employee experience
  • Manage complex HR projects cross-functionally
  • Act as the performance improvement driver and provoke positive changes in the people management
  • Compensation and benefits for Netherlands and Belgium offices including merit planning
  • Co-ordinate & develop company engagement and inclusion initiatives across Sperry and specifically for site
  • Define and deliver training programmes, updates and refresher sessions

About You

  • Proven professional experience in a generalist HR role (ideally 3-5 years+)
  • Problem solving approach with strong analytical / numerical skills    
  • Experience of successful project and change management
  • Working knowledge of Dutch and Belgium employment law and solid grounding in ER practice
  • Strong work ethic and ability to manage a range of short and long term priorities to completion
  • Commercial acumen and demonstrate understanding of how HR function best supports business objectives
  • Talent Acquisition including direct search and use of media platforms
  • Familiarity and interest in HR trends and best practice across region and globally
  • Confident and articulate written and verbal communication skills (in both English and Dutch language) to support 1:1 and group communications
  • Evidence of a customer focused approach
  • Demonstrable strength in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with leadership, employees and HR colleagues
  • Strong IT proficiency to deliver process and communications improvements in HR (desirable)
  • Compensation and job levelling practice (desirable)
  • Knowledge about PVT co-determination regulations (desirable)
  • Working experience in a global business environment (desirable)
